Privacy Policy

SmartKidsPlay ("we," "us") runs SmartKidsPlay.toys, a free guide to educational toys. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. We've kept the site deliberately simple, and this policy reflects that.

The short version

We don't ask you to sign in, sign up, or fill out forms. We count visits with our own privacy‑minded site statistics so we can see which guides actually help parents. We don't use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or advertising cookies, and we never sell or share visitor data with advertisers. If your browser sends a "Global Privacy Control" or "Do Not Track" signal — or if, based on your approximate location, you're visiting from the EU/EEA, the UK, or Switzerland — we don't collect site statistics from you at all. When you click a link to a retailer like Amazon, that retailer takes over under its own privacy policy.

Information we collect

From you, directly: none. There are no accounts, newsletters, comment forms, or contact forms on SmartKidsPlay.toys. The only way to reach us is by email, which you choose to send.

Site statistics. When you visit, a small script on our site records:

• the pages you view (their address and title) and when, and the website that sent you here (for example, Google or Pinterest) — we drop everything after a "?" in these addresses, keeping only standard campaign tags such as utm_source;
• how far down each page you scroll and how long it's open and in use;
• clicks on links that leave our site, such as "Check price on Amazon" — the link and its text;
• the browser and device information your browser sends with every request (its "user‑agent" string); and
• a shortened version of your IP address — we remove the last part before it is stored, so it can indicate roughly which country or region you're in but not your household.

To tell one visit from the next without cookies, the script keeps a random visitor number in your browser's local storage and a random session number that disappears when you close the tab. These numbers aren't tied to your name, email, or anything outside this site, and you can erase them at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

We use site statistics only to understand how SmartKidsPlay is used and to improve it — for example, which guides parents read and which toys they look at. The statistics are sent to our own address (smartkidsplay.toys) and stored on servers operated for us by our technology provider, Cabrillo Club LLC, which processes them only to provide this service to us.

Standard server logs. Like virtually every website, our hosting also records basic technical request data (such as IP address, browser, pages requested, and timestamps). We use these logs only to operate the site, keep it secure, and diagnose problems.

Cookies. We do not set advertising or analytics cookies for visitors. The only cookie we use is a first‑party session cookie for our own administrators signing in to manage the site — it is never set for ordinary visitors.

No third‑party analytics or ad pixels. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or similar third‑party tracking on this site, and our site statistics are not passed on to any analytics or advertising company.

Your choices

• Turn statistics off: enable Global Privacy Control or "Do Not Track" in your browser (or use a privacy extension that sends it), and our statistics script will not load. If an event still reaches us with either signal, we discard it.
• Visitors in the EU/EEA, the UK, and Switzerland: we don't collect site statistics from you at all, so there's nothing to turn off. (We tell where you're visiting from by your connection's approximate location, so a VPN may change this.)
• Reset your visitor number: clear this site's data in your browser settings.
• Block scripts or cookies: you can do this in your browser at any time; the site still works without our statistics.

Affiliate links and third‑party sites

SmartKidsPlay participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and may use other retailer affiliate programs. When you click an affiliate link, the destination site (e.g., Amazon) may set its own cookies to attribute a purchase to us, and your activity there is governed by that company's privacy policy, not ours. See, for example, the Amazon Privacy Notice. We never receive your payment details — purchases happen entirely on the retailer's site. Amazon tells us only aggregate, anonymous reports (such as how many items were ordered), never who bought what. See our Affiliate Disclosure for how the program works.

Children's privacy

SmartKidsPlay.toys is written for parents and caregivers, not for children. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where applicable). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to know about, access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. Because our site statistics aren't linked to your name or contact details, we usually can't single out your records — but if you have a request or question, email us and we'll respond in good faith. We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross‑context behavioral advertising.

Data sharing and retention

We do not sell or rent personal information, and we don't share visitor data with advertisers. Site statistics are kept only as long as they're useful for understanding how the site is used, and never with a full IP address. Server logs are retained only as long as needed for security and operations.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
